40 Under 40

South Carolina State University's “40 Under 40” recognizes exceptional alumni who are leaders and innovators making strides in their respective professions and communities. This recognition program seeks to identify and highlight alumni, ages 40 or younger, by establishing unwavering university pride shared among the class of esteemed alumni spark a sense of responsibility to give back to the university and create possible partnerships with employers of the celebrated alums.

OUR COURSES

Eligibility Criteria for Nominees

  • Earned an undergraduate or graduate degree from South Carolina State University.

  • Be 40 years old or younger as of December 31st during the nomination year.  

  • Have made a significant impact or contribution to their professions.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a lifelong relationship with SC State by giving of their time, talents, or financial resources to the university. 

  • Submit a photo, if selected, to be published by South Carolina State University and its external partners as appropriate.

The Selection Process

Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee which will be comprised of alumni, current students and university faculty and staff. 

NOMINATIONS ARE DUE BY SUNDAY, JUNE 7, 2020.

Honorees

Once the selection committee has identified the 40 honorees, they will be notified by email or phone. Each honoree will be sent a congratulatory letter with specific details of the event. Honorees will be required to send a professional headshot and a bio which should include: year degree(s) were earned and the degree(s) earned; involvement on campus; current career field and employer; personal and professional honors and accomplishments; a statement on how SC State helped contribute to their personal and professional accomplishments; and any other relevant information.

With the various activities on campus and the thousands of individuals who visit SC State, the University significantly impacts the economy of the City of Orangeburg, as well as the State of South Carolina. In the Orangeburg community, SC State supports 1,558 jobs and has a $152.5 million impact; and our statewide impact is $181.5 million.
